I have the honor this year of heading the scholarship committee for American Legion Post 11 in Brookline. Instead of the standard “submit an essay” routine, this year we’re trying something new. We’re hosting a one-day multi-media competition at our Veterans Post in Brookline Village on April 7th. We will award college scholarships and other prizes to the winners that same day.

Participants will be challenged to produce a short multi-media project on a theme, which will be announced at the event. Projects may be in any medium, including video, a website, interviews, maps, a local guidebook, etc.

Local businesses are supporting the event (see the list below!), and more are joining every day. The scholarship money will be at least $3,850 (and growing!), there will also be at least $400 in gift cards for prizes, and free food for the participants too.

How can you help?

  • Do you know anyone from Brookline who will be enrolled in college next year? They may be eligible to participate. Please share this with them.
  • Are you a business owner who would like to sponsor this event? We would be grateful for your support. Please contact me for details.
